Michel is a strategic player and an inspiring leader, with the ability to build strong teams and manage complex relationships on a global level.
As VP Country Management at World Online, the fastest growing and largest ISP in Europe in the late 1990s, Michel was instrumental in growing the World Online European footprint, enabling an IPO which raised €2.5B at a valuation of €12B and which led shortly to World Online’s successful merger with Tiscali.
Michel is skillful at solving “bottlenecks” and identifying opportunities. As interim Country Manager for Tiscali Belgium, he turned around the struggling organization and grew its market share to the second largest in the country within a year. At Playlist, a Silicon Valley streaming music start-up with 65m users, Michel restructured the company and laid the foundation for a new and sustainable business model.
In 2004, Michel launched his own Internet strategy and web development agency, which serviced an impressive list of clients in the Telco, Software and Publishing industries, consulting on and building bespoke cloud-based solutions. One of these was Shopzonline, a seamlessly integrated ecommerce and wholesale trading platform created to service the diverse and fast-paced “daily deal” sites for the largest Dutch publishers: Telegraaf Media Group, Reed Elsevier and De Persgroep.
